Frequently Asked Questions
Short, code-checked answers for depositors, agent creators and developers, with links to the page that covers each topic in full.
Depositors
Is any of this real money?
No. Neuron runs on Robinhood Chain testnet (chain ID 46630). Vaults hold a free test USDG, and agents paper-trade on live market data. Gains and losses are simulated and have no cash value. Real-capital vaults are planned for mainnet; see Testnet to Mainnet.
How do I get test USDG and gas?
Use "Get test USDG" in the wallet menu or a deposit panel: up to 1,000 per wallet per UTC day, sent only to your own wallet. Gas is testnet ETH from faucet.testnet.chain.robinhood.com; the app wants at least 0.0001 ETH before it asks you to sign. See Claim Testnet Funds.
What is the minimum deposit, and is there a maximum?
Factory vaults have a 10 USDG minimum and a default cap of 100,000 USDG of total deposits per vault, which the platform can raise. The deposit panel reads both live from the vault and tells you how much room is left. See Deposits & Withdrawals.
Why does my first deposit ask for two or three confirmations?
The app may first claim test USDG to cover a shortfall, then asks you to approve exactly the amount (never an unlimited allowance), then sends the deposit. Later deposits skip any step that is not needed.
Can I withdraw at any time?
Yes. Withdrawals settle in one transaction and cannot be paused; pausing a vault only stops new deposits. Withdraw part of your position or press Max to redeem every share. Old vaults from a relaunched agent stay withdrawable and are marked "Old vault · withdraw only".
What fees do I pay?
Only a performance fee on profits above the vault's high-water mark, paid by minting shares to the fee collector. It is capped at 30% in the contract; agents created from the Create page use 20%, and house agents use 10% to 20%. Each agent's rate is shown in its deposit panel. A losing agent charges nothing until it gets back above its previous peak. There are no deposit or withdrawal fees. See Independent Agent Vaults.
Where do the returns on an agent's page come from?
From the agent's Reported events on-chain, which the indexer chains together into a value index. Returns are per vault share, before performance fees. APY appears only after 90 days of history; before that you see the return since launch. See Public PnL & Trade History.
How can I check a trade myself?
Press "Verified tx" on any trade in an agent's Trade history. It opens the report's transaction on the testnet explorer, where the Reported event shows the move in basis points, the vault's assets and the agent's note, including the prices the trade was booked at.
Why might an agent's TVL look high?
House agents start with a $500 platform seed, and their vaults include test wallets the team runs to simulate depositors. Treat house-agent TVL and depositor counts as test figures.
Creators
Can I create my own agent?
Yes. On Create you pick a strategy template, set its rules within fixed bounds, name it and launch. One transaction to the AgentFactory deploys your vault, its strategy and a governor holding your rules. Your agent's page lives at /c/<slug>. See Create an Agent.
What do I earn as a creator?
Agents created from the Create page charge a 20% performance fee. The fee collector splits it 50/50 between you and the protocol treasury. If your agent's token launches, its trading fees are also split half to you and half to the treasury. On testnet these are test-token amounts. See Creator Fees & Rewards.
When can my agent's token launch?
Once your agent's return since launch reaches +10%, measured from its on-chain reports. Only you, the creator, can request it, by signing a message on the agent page; the launch service checks the signature (valid for 10 minutes) and the return, then creates the token on Realm. Each agent launches once. See Performance Requirements.
Can I change my agent's rules after launch?
Not directly from the app. Rules are stored in your agent's governor, and the app no longer offers depositor voting. Rule changes now come from loss reviews that are backtested and approved by the Neuron team, and those reviews run automatically for the house agents. Any rule set must also pass the template's bounds, or the agent keeps trading on its last valid rules.
Can I backtest before launching?
Not from the Create page today; its rules editor has no backtest button. Backtests do run elsewhere: every loss-review fix is backtested against the current rules before anyone approves it, and the /lab page shows the house agents' rules backtested on recorded history. See Backtesting & Validation.
Developers
Are the contracts audited?
No. The repo marks them "Not audited", and no audit report exists in it. They have Foundry unit and fuzz tests. Admin actions have no timelock yet; a 48 hour timelock is planned before mainnet. See Security Model.
How do I run everything locally?
Install Foundry, then run npm run chain, npm run deploy:local and npm run dev:local, and start npm run worker with NEURON_RPC_URL=http://127.0.0.1:8546 if you want agents trading. With NEXT_PUBLIC_PRIVY_APP_ID set empty on the local network, the app offers anvil's unlocked dev account, so you can claim, deposit and withdraw in the browser. See Technical Architecture.
Where are the contract addresses?
In contracts/deployments/<chainId>.json and <chainId>.community.json, copied into src/lib/web3/deployments.json by npm run sync:contracts. An agent's vault address is also linked at the bottom of its deposit panel.
